Lemon-Braised Tofu
Updated: Aug 13

Ingredients
For the Tofu
400 g extra-firm tofu, cut into 24 pieces (Edeka Bio Natur Tofu)
4 tbsp corn starch
2 tbsp oil, for frying (Rapeseed oil with lemon flavor)
For the Lemon Sauce
3 tbsp light soy sauce
4 tbsp fresh lemon juice
50 g palm sugar
½ tsp corn starch
2 kaffir lime leaves, sesame seeds(optional)

Instructions
Add the light soy sauce, lemon juice, palm sugar, and potato starch to a small saucepan. Stir well until the potato starch is completely dissolved.

Brake up 400g of extra-firm tofu into 24 pieces gently with hand and coat each piece evenly with starch.
Heat 2 tbsp oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat. Fry the tofu until golden and crispy on all sides.
Pour in the sauce. Turn the heat to high and pour the prepared sauce into the pan. Add the kaffir lime leaves, if using.
Glaze the tofu. Gently toss and turn the tofu as the sauce cooks. Continue cooking until the sauce becomes thick and glossy and coats the tofu evenly.
Serve. Once the tofu is nicely glazed and the sauce has thickened, remove from the heat and serve immediately. (Optionally sprinkle sesame seeds)
