Sometimes the best meals come together without a fixed plan.
For this gathering, I decided not to choose a theme. Instead, everyone brought a few random ingredients, and we let our intuition guide the cooking.
We created a colorful dishes that included comforting lentil curry, vegan omelette rice, coconut mochi, banana bread, a refreshing melon mint salad, tempeh sticks, glazed mushrooms, and a type of flatbread.
I'm sharing some of the recipes we made together so you can recreate them in your own kitchen.

The omelette (vegan egg) for this omurice is made with the same batter I use in my bánh xèo recipe. I kept the filling simple with garlic-flavored jasmine rice. For each omelette, use about 1/3 cup of cooked rice. There's no need to flip it, as the batter is thin enough to cook through on one side. Once it's set, simply wrap it around the rice and serve with sauce of your choice.

For this flat bread with tomato toppings .We used a store-bought dough sheet, so I don't have a recipe for it.But If you'd like to make something similar yourself, check out my focaccia recipe.

We made these crispy tempeh sticks using the same method as the ones from one of our previous cooking events. You can find the recipe here.

You can check out my za'ater recipe here.
Crunchy peanut coconut harissa spread

At this event we made this banana bread with gluten free flour.

I hope these recipes inspire you to cook with curiosity, and enjoy the process as much as the final meal.

Thank you again to everyone who joined.
It was a wonderful reminder that creativity often appears when we leave space for spontaneity, and that people build meaningful connections through the simple act of cooking and sharing meals.
Happy Cooking !
